Take the Satisfaction Quiz!
If you remember from the three flavors of happy, which you can read here: http://thesunnygirl.wordpress.com/2010/07/27/three-flavors-of-happy/ , satisfaction with life is only one of the three elements that determines happiness. But are you satisfied with your life? I invite you to take this quiz which I found in Dr. O'Connor's Happy at Last. There are two factors that will affect your test score; the mood you're currently in and the tendency to see yourself as better than average (shocking, right?). But studies also show that the same person will answer consistently over a period of time. Could this mean that we have a set point for happiness? I will explore this in later posts.
So how satisfied are you with your life?
**Using a 1-7 scale where 1 means to strongly disagree and 7 means to strongly agree and a 4 means neither agree nor disagree, rate yourself on each statement. Be true to yourself!
___ In most ways, my life is close to ideal.
___ The conditions of my life are excellent.
___ I am satisfied with my life.
___ So far I have gotten the important things I want in life.
___ If I could live my life over, I would change almost nothing.
Scoring:
35-31 (Extremely Satisfied), 30-26 (Satisfied), 25-21 (Slightly Satisfied), 20 (Neutral), 19-15 (Slightly Dissatisfied), 14-10 (Dissatisfied), 9-5 (Extremely Dissatisfied)
How'd you do? No matter what your score, note that this is not the only thing that shapes how happy you feel. I encourage you to evaluate your score and see what areas of your life you'd like to improve or change so that you can feel more satisfaction, acceptance, and gratefulness for your life.
